I invite you to join me and my guests to celebrate my 10th season as WMCT Artistic Director with a multi-cello spectacular. My very favorite Canadian cellists and I play music from Barrière to Penderecki and Queen to J.S. Bach scored for from one to eight cellos. Not only that: the supremely versatile and talented 2006 CDA Winner Shannon Mercer will be with us for Villa-Lobos, and the WMCT has commissioned award-winning composer Kelly-Marie Murphy to write a new eight-cello work for première this afternoon. Imagine the beauty of a solo cello performance, then multiply that by eight – what could be better?
