The Women’s Musical Club of Toronto (WMCT), producers of Music in the Afternoon, acknowledge that Toronto (Tkaronto) is built on sacred land that is the traditional territory of many nations, including the Wendat, the Haudenosaunee, the Chippewa, the Anishnabeg, and the Mississaugas of the Credit, and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13, signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaty signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
The WMCT honours this land and its Indigenous heritage, which dates back over 10,000 years, and we are grateful for the opportunity to make and experience music here.
