Master trumpeter Jens Lindemann will perform a programme titled Brassfire, an eclectic mixture of musical genres and styles in keeping with his wide-ranging tastes, and exemplifying the capabilities of the modern trumpet. A piano/bass/drumset trio of Jens Lindemann’s favorite collaborators will join forces to create an unusual and spectacular performance.
Born in Germany, Jens Lindemann was raised in Edmonton, and educated at McGill and Juilliard. Now he is based in Los Angeles. He is hailed as one of the most celebrated soloists in trumpet history. He has performed with Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Ángel Romero, Charles Dutoit, Bramwell Tovey, and Jukka-Pekka Saraste.
Jens Lindemann has recorded for BMG, EMI, CBC and the BBC. For five years Jens Lindemann was lead trumpet with the Canadian Brass, before resuming his career as a solo performer. He has been nominated for Grammy and JUNO awards, and won Germany’s prestigious ECHO Klassik award.

Jens Lindemann will lead the master class this year on March 13, 2015, from 9:30 to noon in Walter Hall, Faculty of Music, University of Toronto.
