Women’s Musical Club of Toronto Foundation
The mission of the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto Foundation is to develop and prudently manage the financial resources required to support the activities of the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto, including its long-established chamber music concert series and funding of awards and scholarships to continue the development of talented young Canadian classical musicians.
The funding initiatives of the WMCT Foundation currently include:
- scholarships, including funding of the WMCT/WMCT Foundation scholarships at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, and The Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as a graduate fellowship at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, and additional scholarships elsewhere from time to time, to further the development of Canadian classical music education;
- the Career Development Award, given every three years by the WMCT to a young Canadian classical musician who has already embarked on a professional performing career; and
- sponsorship of concerts in Music in the Afternoon, the WMCT’s classical chamber music concert series, particularly those which provide performance opportunities for Canadian musicians.
The Foundation receives and maintains funds and engages in fund raising activities in order to enable the Foundation to carry out its activities. These include an annual appeal to members and friends of the WMCT Foundation and the WMCT, as well as the establishment of a Legacy Circle which attracts individuals wishing to support the Foundation’s objectives on an ongoing basis by making a bequest in their wills.
