Premiere of Vivian Fung’s new work for the Daedalus Quartet live streaming

Vivian Fung, who was WMCT’s commissioned Canadian composer for 2016, has written a new Clarinet Quintet, “Frenetic Memories,” for the Daedalus Quartet with Romie de Guise-Langlois, who performed for us in March 2016.  This work featuring WMCT “Alumni” will be live-streamed from Lincoln Center, Thursday November 9, at 9 pm.

Volunteers honoured at the AGM Sept. 28

The WMCT had the best Annual Meeting in town!

Half an hour of positive reports from the treasurer and president, then a mini-recital by Scholarship and Fellowship winners, a free lunch, and a floral “Thank you” to volunteers who plan and staff Music in the Afternoon, serve on awards, finance, and fundraising, committees, and document the history of the WMCT. Emily D’Angelo at Toronto Summer Music

TSM this year is a parade of WMCT Scholarship and Award winners, including David Braid, Jane Coop, James Ehnes, and Angela Park.  Leading the parade is Emily D’Angelo, mezzo-soprano, 2015-2016 Centennial Scholar, featured on August 4 in both the “Last Night of the Festival, Eh!”  at 7 pm, and in the TSM Late Night Encore at 10.30.

National Youth Orchestra on tour
