Mission
Statement
The
mission of the Women's Musical Club of Toronto Foundation
is to provide financial support for the promotion of careers
of classical musicians and the development of musical organizations
throughout Canada.
For as long as the Women's Musical Club of Toronto (WMCT) is
in existence and is actively operating, the Foundation's priority
in fulfilling its mission will be to enhance the financial stability
of the WMCT through the funding of various initiatives of the
WMCT, including:
i)
the WMCT's scholarships at the Faculty of Music, University
of Toronto, and The Royal Conservatory of Music, including a
graduate fellowship at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto;
ii)
the Career Development Award, given periodically by the WMCT
to a young Canadian classical musician who has already embarked
on a professional performing career; and
iii)
sponsorship of concerts in the WMCT Music in the Afternoon concert
series, particularly those which provide performance opportunities
for Canadian classical musicians.
The
Foundation receives and maintains funds and engages in fund
raising activities in order to enable the Foundation to carry
out its activities. These include an annual appeal to members
and friends of the WMCT Foundation and the WMCT,
as well as the establishment of a Legacy Circle which attracts
individuals wishing to support the Foundation's objectives on
an ongoing basis by making a bequest in their wills.
